Even though houses with home alarm systems are up to four times less likely to experience a break-in, the occasional dumb burglar will still give it a shot. Alarm systems offer about a 60 percent rate of stopping the burglar, according to the NBFAA. While this number may not seem extremely high, it is 60 percent higher than those homes without alarm systems installed.
Additionally, given that heated competition between security companies has resulted in pricing battles, getting an alarm system installed is more affordable than ever before. You even have the option of leasing a system if you choose not to buy. It’s possible to have your installation fees waived. Occasionally, it’s also possible to pay a start-up fee in exchange for lower monthly rates. However, no matter how you work out your home security system deal, you should be able to find a reliable service for under $50 per month. Not to mention that you can save a lot of money on your home insurance. Many insurance providers offer significant discounts for homes with security systems, given the lower rate of break-ins. Undoubtedly, though, the best value for your money comes in the form of peace of mind.
